It was at the turn of the century when Simon and Jacquie Mackenzie began work at Point Wines and first discussed the concept with their previous employer owner Aidan Hardy. Although the idea was slow to form the seed was firmly planted. It wasn’t until when Simon purchased Point Wines in 2007 that he was in a position to realise his dream. Adding the future bar to the existing retail business proved a little challenging getting to off the ground but permission from the North Shore City Council for the project was finally given. Plans were quickly drawn up and building commenced in September 2009.
Following a soft opening for family and friends, Stafford Road Wine Bar opened its doors on Monday, November 16th 2009 and an institution was born.
