It was at the turn of the century when Simon and Jacquie Mackenzie began work at Point Wines and first discussed the concept with their previous employer owner Aidan Hardy. Although the idea was slow to form the seed was firmly planted. It wasn’t until when Simon purchased Point Wines in 2007 that he was in a position to realise his dream.
Following a soft opening for family and friends, Stafford Road Wine Bar opened its doors on Monday, November 16th 2009 and an institution was born.
The menu at Stafford Road Wine Bar is design to reflect the seasons. Local suppliers and growers inspire us to create original dishes that respect the best produce available.
Everything possible is prepared in-house, from the sourdough and cultured butter to the brioche and sour cream. Our on site kitchen garden is forever expanding and is something we are very passionate about.
From it, we source all of the herbs and flowers and some of the produce found in our dishes, we also supplement this by hand picking from local Auckland gardens.
